Whiskey is not my dog, technically. I wish I had a dog of my own, but she fills that place until that day. She is a pitt/ridgeback mix and she is the sweetest (except with some other dogs). She’s five years old, but acts more like a puppy most days. She also spends most of the days napping and relaxing on the balcony basking in the rays of the sun. But none the less I wanted to try my hand at making her some tasty treats.
It was an easy recipe and Whiskey raved about them (begging for more). I got the recipe from Eating Bird Food. They appeared to have a smaller dog bone cookie cutter and thicker dough when they cut them out. I found my larger dog bone cookie cutter at a store called Belky. Wilton has a container of 101 cookie cutters. I now own a cookie cutter for every occasion. May need to make some sugar cookies soon.
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1/4 cup chicken stock
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium size mixing bowl mix together the flour and peanut butter. Then add the apple sauce and chicken stock. After mixing well, roll dough into a ball and with a little bit of flour roll out dough on flat surface. Make sure dough is rolled out evenly before cutting out treats with the cookie cutter. Place treats on oiled cookie sheet. Bake treats for 18 minutes or until golden.
Let your pup enjoy!
